The Emperors Challenge

Hi guys,

Its a rainy day today here in Ortigas and i just want to share this nice story.

There was once this Old Emperor who did not have a son who would succeed him. So one day he called for all the youth and gave them special seeds for them to plant. He challenged them and said that the person who would grow the most beautiful flower from this seeds he gave in one years time will be the next emperor.

In one of the crowd was this little boy who did not even want to be there but was forced by his mother to attend. So he got his seeds like everyone else and went home and started planting. weeks and months have passed with disappointment the boy was not able to grow not even a little plant.

The time came that everyone had to come back to the Emperor to present thier flowers, the boy hesitated to come because he felt he was a failure and did not want to be embarrassed. With much couragement from the mother the boy went to the emperor with just a pot in his hand. And as soons as he entered he saw everyone with beautiful flowers in their hands, and the moment he walked in the other children started laughing at the little boy.

Then the Emperor spoke and called for the boy to stand in his presence. He then proceeded by asking the boy. "What happened to your seed" the boy replied "Im sorry sir, i tried my best to plant and water and take care of the seed, but it seems that i did not succeed because it never did grow. I really did not want to come here but my mother insisted so here i am."

The Emperor stood up and said." This boy will be the next Emperor". You see This boy unlike all of you is HONEST. I gave all of you seeds that were boiled, hence none of the seeds will grow. And yet here is one boy who stood by it and had the courage to come here even without a flower"

Honesty is a powerful value that will allow us to stand with dignity and pride. Ask your self right now have you been very honest with all the people around you? Sometimes me need to speak the truth even if it means standing on your own.

I hope this is an inspiration to you guys as it had inspired me. My request is for you guys to reflect on this and post your realizations.
